WHERE WILL THE EVENT TAKE PLACE?

The Oaks is a beautiful retreat center nestled on 240 acres, located an hour from San Diego and two hours from Los Angeles. Best friends Bob Goff and Miles Adcox purchased the retreat center in 2019 and it’s become one of their favorite places to create and dream!

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Pricing includes use of our 240 acre property, lodging in our newly renovated rooms, intimate, in- person sessions with Miles and Bob, a visit to Oaks Equestrian, yoga, plenty of free time to explore and rest, meals and some really fun surprises!

Space is limited to enhance your experience. We anticipate this event will sell out, so reserve your spot today!

We do not offer discounts or scholarships at this time.

The price does not include travel to or from The Oaks. We recommend renting a car. Plan on spending about $80 each way with Uber.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Please plan to arrive by 4pm on day one of retreat. Our first welcome activity will start at 5:30pm and you won’t want to miss it.


WHAT MEALS ARE PROVIDED?

Our culinary team has designed a finely curated menu made fresh from our kitchen and can accommodate most dietary restrictions. Meals are included beginning day one with dinner and ending day the last day with breakfast, and plenty of drinks and snacks in between! Please indicate on your registration form any dietary restrictions.


WHAT IS THE DEMOGRAPHIC OF THE ATTENDEES?

There is a wide range in the demographics of the attendees! We have people signed up from all around the country - ranging in age and occupation. Our goal is to create a diverse community where you can all work together and encourage one another!

DO YOU PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS?

No, not at this time. However, if you are needing to pay in two separate payments prior to registering, please email info@oakscenter.com to register a different way.

CAN I COME WITH SOMEONE ELSE?

Of course! Bring your friends or your partner! We offer a huge saving off each ticket if you are sharing a room!


HOW WILL WE BE GATHERING SAFELY?

We have intentionally limited attendance to keep the group small. In addition to following CDC guidelines, all group gatherings will be outside or limited in size to ensure social distancing protocols.

All meals will be individually boxed when necessary and outdoor seating encouraged. Guests are not allowed into other guest’s rooms and single occupancy rooms are available. Please review our guidelines on our website for further information or contact us with any questions.

If we have to cancel the event, your complete registration fee can be transferred to another retreat in 2021.



CAN I USE A FLAGSHIP RETREAT VOUCHER?

WILL THERE BE HORSEBACK RIDING?

Yes! We are excited to announce Trail Riding is available on a first come, first serve basis during free time. You will learn more about the opportunities closer to the event.

Miles will also do a basic horsemanship session at Oaks Equestrian. You will have opportunities to pet, feed and take as many selfies as you want with the horses.

Bob Goff is the author of the New York Times bestselling Love Does and Everybody, Always and his latest book, Dream Big. He is the Honorary Consul to the Republic of Uganda, an attorney, and the founder of Love Does—a nonprofit human rights organization operating in Uganda, India, Nepal, Iraq, and Somalia. Bob has coached over one thousand people and brought them through a program he created called Dream Big. Miles Adcox is an entrepreneur, speaker, host, and coach. He is the proprietor of Onsite, an internationally-known emotional wellness lifestyle brand that delivers life-changing personal growth workshops, inspiring content, leadership retreats, and emotional treatment. Miles’ work at Onsite has been featured on 20/20, Good Morning America, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Dr. Phil Show, and The Doctors.

He is the owner of Onsite Music Publishing, Milestones at Onsite, and the Onsite Foundation — as well as the founder of Inspire Nashville. PACKING LIST

We are located approximately 20 minutes from town, so please come prepared. We will provide towels, bed linens, snacks, an alarm clock, USB charging stations, and essential toiletries (soap, shampoo and conditioner).

Dress is casual. Some activities may take place outdoors. Please bring warm clothing during late fall, winter, and early spring months. We suggest layers due to variable temperatures inside and outside.

General Packing List

  • Closed toed athletic shoes/hiking boots

  • Swimwear (Pool towels are available. Pool is not heated.)

  • All daily toiletries (i.e. toothbrush, deodorant, etc.)

  • Hair dryer and other styling tools

  • Watch

*The Oaks does not have access to a pharmacy or doctor. Bring enough prescription medications needed for your stay. If your medication requires refrigeration, please notify The Oaks prior to your arrival. There are no refrigerators in individual rooms.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Accommodations are similar to a hotel with a few exceptions. Most rooms contain one to four beds and vary in size from twin to king. You will stay alone but may share a bathroom.


The Oaks is unable to offer roommate or room changes, etc. If you have any unique sensitivities or sleeping conditions such as the use of a CPAP machine, insomnia, excessive snoring, etc., let us know prior to your arrival so we can determine our ability to accommodate your needs.


The Oaks cannot anticipate, monitor, or control participants’ unique sleeping/living habits or their sensitivities such as allergies, snoring, night sounds, light, etc. It is your responsibility to take care of those sensitivities by bringing items needed to provide for your comfort and safety. Such items might include: allergy masks, sleeping masks, ear plugs, headphones, white noise machines, etc.


Typically, towels and toiletries are not replenished during your stay to reduce the amount of people in your room. We do not offer daily room attendance service.


In order to focus on the work you are here to do, there are no televisions or telephones in the room. There is a phone available for emergency use. Please let necessary people at home know that they can get in touch with you in an emergency by calling 619.530.8389. Please have them indicate they are leaving an emergency message with your first/last name.


Meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily) and light snacks will be provided during your time at The Oaks. Meals are served buffet, plated or boxed (pick up or delivery options are available) with a seasonal food selection. Our meals are designed to accommodate most food requirements. 

We are unable to accommodate specific dietary requests. If you have specific medical needs such as food allergies that you have not indicated on your registration form, please contact our office immediately. Food is not permitted in rooms nor is food to be brought to The Oaks. 

If you have additional questions regarding your food needs, contact us as soon as possible.

GUIDELINES

To promote our primary goal of creating a safe place we have created these guidelines. These help to ensure quality care and consistency in the community. Should you have any questions, please contact us.

General

Participants are permitted to leave The Oaks at any time, however, the gate will close at 10pm and reopen at 7am, daily. Please let staff know if you plan on leaving or returning when the gate is closed. The gate will allow you to exit from camp, but you will need to notify us to reenter. 

The Oaks sits on 240 acres. Property boundaries are not clearly marked so we ask that you review the property map and require you to stay on our property. 

In case of an emergency, contact a staff member. Firearms and weapons are prohibited on property. For your safety, we recommend that you gather in groups of three or more when hiking and use caution on rocks and near areas where there may be poison oak. 

Please wear your name tag at all times so we can address you by name. The Oaks is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Please report any property damage to a staff member. Any willful damage of property will be the financial responsibility of the participant. 

Chemicals During Program and Medical Needs 

Non-prescription mood-altering chemicals are prohibited on campus. Participants who arrive intoxicated or with the appearance of intoxication will be asked to leave forfeiting fees and the right to participate. 

The Oaks cannot provide direct medical assistance. If you need to see a doctor, the on-call staff member will be able to help you access medical assistance.

Dress Code

Appropriate dress for The Oaks includes comfortable, casual wear such as t-shirts, jeans, dresses/skirts, shorts, and sweats.

Phone and Emergencies

At the welcome session, you will be invited to turn in your cell phone(s) and other electronic media devices if you decide you want a tech-free retreat. If you choose to disconnect, outgoing calls will be limited to emergency calls only. Incoming emergency messages will be forwarded to you as soon as possible. Please give the emergency phone number to those that need it back home and instruct them to use the number only for emergencies. Non-emergency incoming messages will be forwarded to you in a timely fashion. Cell phone(s) are returned upon completion of program closing. Again, this is optional.

Dining and Snacks

We will be providing snacks and refreshments during breaks. Snacks are to be consumed only in the areas outlined during orientation. 

Rooming

Assigned sleeping rooms will be off limits to all other participants at all times. The Oaks cannot anticipate, monitor, or control participants sleeping and living habits or their sensitivities to others’ habits. The Oaks is unable to offer any relief by making roommate changes, room changes, etc. Please keep your living area neat and your bed made. Smoking, burning candles, burning incense, smudging, etc. is prohibited. Please return room keys as directed.

Exercise

Physical activities are optional. Please be gentle with yourself. If you are experiencing any discomfort or ailment, please notify staff as soon as possible. For walking/running, we suggest participants go in groups of two or more, or notifying staff of your whereabouts so that you are accounted for. Be aware there are snakes, ticks, and other wildlife and insects on property.

Photography

Please ask permission of participants before you use your camera. Cameras are not allowed during any guided experiences. The Oaks may take pictures throughout your stay. Please let us know if you have a preference not to be photographed.

We Expect That You Will...

  • Be honest about matters that relate to you.

  • Be an active participant in your process.

  • Be considerate and respectful of the rights of fellow participants, The Oaks staff, and property of others.

  • Help keep rooms clean.

  • Attend sessions, meals, and events of your choosing on time.

  • Contact a staff member if you have concerns regarding the safety or well-being of yourself or others.

Discharge
The Oaks can be a safe place to feel, share, and be vulnerable. In order to preserve and enhance safety, we will not hesitate to discharge someone, if necessary, for the welfare of the whole group. Grounds for discharge include but are not limited to:

  • Possession, sale, or use of drugs.

  • Actual or threatened verbal and/or physical assault.

  • Inappropriate behavior interfering with another’s experience.

  • Dishonesty.

  • Violating The Oaks guidelines.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Each participant is responsible for making his/her own travel arrangements to The Oaks. Shuttles are not provided.

Flying

ARRIVAL: Air travel destination is SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SAN). When scheduling your flights, please arrive no later than 2:30pm PST. 

DEPARTURE: We recommend scheduling your departing flight after 3:00pm PST or later on the last day of your program.

Driving

Arrive to The Oaks after 12:00pm PST and before 4:00pm PST.

DEPARTURE: Plan to depart The Oaks no later than 2:00pm PST on the final day.

Car Service

We recommend calling LaCosta or an Uber.

Late Arrivals

The Oaks is not responsible for transportation to our venue. You will need to make your own arrangements for transportation to The Oaks. Uber, Lyft, taxi services, and all major rental car companies are located at the San Diego (SAN) airport. Please notify The Oaks of travel delays by calling 619.530.8389.

Early Arrivals

If you fly into San Diego early, you are responsible for booking your own accommodations. Below is a list of hotels near the airport.

NOTE: if you get to Trumper’s Honey and Fruit Shack, you’ve gone just a bit too far. 

At the fork in the road you will see THE OAKS sign. Stay left and follow the signs to The Oak, approximately 1.5 miles. Please note the road construction at our entrance and proceed past and up the hill to the gate.
